What we check in the DR Congo
| Check | Where the record is held |
|---|---|
| Company existence and managers | RCCM, through the commercial courts |
| Mining title — research, exploitation or small-scale permit | CAMI, the mining cadastre |
| Approval as a trading house for artisanal production | Ministry of Mines |
| Export certification and ICGLR certificates | CEEC |
| Stock, grade and condition | Our inspection and laboratory sampling |
Local points that change the answer
- Mining titles are tied to defined areas; production said to come from a title should be consistent with its location and scale.
- Artisanal production is exported through approved trading houses; a seller outside that channel needs to explain how it will export.
- Buyers subject to responsible-sourcing rules need evidence against the OECD guidance; our report sets it out check by check.
How the engagement runs
- Brief — the supplier’s name and the documents it has given you, through the Due Diligence form.
- Scope — we confirm the scope under the Nairank Global Standard, the timetable and the fee for work in the DR Congo.
- Records — company and licence records obtained from the registry and the licensing authority; documents confirmed with their issuers.
- Field work — where in scope, inspection of the site or warehouse and testing of the material by our own personnel.
- Screening — company, directors and owners screened against sanctions, PEP and adverse-media sources.
- Report — each finding with its evidence and a recommendation.
