What we check in Zambia
| Check | Where the record is held |
|---|---|
| Company existence, directors, shareholders, beneficial owners | PACRA |
| Mining licence, trading permit, export permit | Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development cadastre |
| Tax registration | Zambia Revenue Authority, where it confirms |
| Stock, grade and condition | Our inspection and laboratory sampling |
Local points that change the answer
- A trading permit allows dealing, not mining; a trader offering “its own production” should be asked whose mine it is.
- Copper concentrate export rules have changed with smelter capacity; the export position for the lot is confirmed in the scope.
- Much cathode and concentrate offered in Zambia is in transit from the DR Congo; its documents are checked on both sides of the border.
How the engagement runs
- Brief — the supplier’s name and the documents it has given you, through the Due Diligence form.
- Scope — we confirm the scope under the Nairank Global Standard, the timetable and the fee for work in Zambia.
- Records — company and licence records obtained from the registry and the licensing authority; documents confirmed with their issuers.
- Field work — where in scope, inspection of the site or warehouse and testing of the material by our own personnel.
- Screening — company, directors and owners screened against sanctions, PEP and adverse-media sources.
- Report — each finding with its evidence and a recommendation.
