What Nairank Global does in Kenya
Nairobi is where many regional deals are negotiated, financed and signed, often for goods held in another country. Our Kenyan work is therefore as much about the counterparty in front of you as about the goods:
- Company and supplier due diligence — registration with the Business Registration Service (BRS), KRA tax registration, licences, ownership and track record. See supplier due diligence in Kenya.
- Background checks on companies, suppliers and counterparties, including sanctions, politically exposed person and adverse-media screening. See background checks.
- Vault and warehouse inspection — counting, weighing and sealing stock held in Nairobi or Mombasa, and confirming custody with the operator directly. See mine, warehouse and stockpile inspection.
- Gold testing — XRF, acid and density on site in Nairobi, with fire assay at an accredited laboratory. See gold testing in Nairobi.
- Document verification — dealer licences, export permits, SKRs and assay certificates confirmed with their issuers. See document verification.
Registries and authorities we check in Kenya
| Record | Held by | What it confirms |
|---|---|---|
| Company registration and beneficial ownership | Business Registration Service (BRS) | That the company exists and who owns and controls it |
| KRA PIN and tax compliance | Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) | That the company is registered for tax |
| Mining licences and dealer’s licences | State Department for Mining, under the Mining Act 2016 | That the company may mine, buy or sell the mineral offered |
| Export permits for minerals | State Department for Mining | That the lot may lawfully leave Kenya |
| Custody of goods in a vault or warehouse | The vault or warehouse operator, contacted independently | That the goods are there, in whose name and in what quantity |
Buying and selling minerals in Kenya requires a dealer’s licence under the Mining (Dealings in Minerals) Regulations, 2017. A seller who cannot show one, or shows one in another name, is a reason to stop and check.

Our mineral specialisation in Kenya
Gold offered in Nairobi often originates in a neighbouring country, so the questions are where it was mined, how it entered Kenya and whose it is. We check the paperwork for each step and test the gold itself. See gold testing and dealer verification in Kenya.
